A new life

This morning I pulled my hand out of the pocket of my jacket, holding an empty chocolate wrapper and some candy. I stared at it, a reminder of an earlier life. It did not seem to be from my, this life. Chocolate? I don't eat chocolate, never mind candy. I diligently count carbs (carbohydrates). Check BGL many times a day.
When my GP gave me the diagnosis, my old life vanished. It explained why I had been extremely tired all the time, at times barely able to keep my eyes open; why I had been unable to focus my thoughts, and not been able to remember where I put my keys just a moment before. Never mind all the stuff that went wrong thanks to my forgetfullness. Thanks to the lack of energy I barely could keep up with daily life, the chores one has to do, never mind friends. Thanks to my new lifestyle I am (very) slowly getting some energy back, and my mental focus is not quite as blurred any more.
Sorry to all my friends and aquaintances for dropping out of sight and hearing range. I will try to better myself ( I know, I know, on some level it is hopeless ;) )

To Friends

My first blog entry I dedicate to all those who make life better for us. They come in all shapes and sizes, and from all kinds of places. They can be young, old, geographically close to us or half a world away. But they all do their best to never let us fall. ;)

To honour all those who call themselves my friends, or whose friend I have (had) the privilege to call friends, I would like to list all the countries my friends come from or are living in. In no particular order :

China

El Salvador

Taiwan

Mexico

Australia

New Zealand

Germany

Netherlands

Finland

Spain

Israel

India

Palestine

South Africa

France

Denmark

Sweden

Canada

USA

If I forgot your country and you are among my friends, please let me know. :)

Not to be forgotten are those friends whose lives got cut short by unfortunate events, be it illness like cancer, brain tumour and stroke, or events like car/plane crashes, giving their live saving others, or the horrible event of 9/11. They will always remain in my heart.
